Cool Silicon Art Award
The organizers of the Cool Silicon Art Award, the Saxon Leading-Edge Cluster Cool Silicon and the OSTRALE - international exhibition of contemporary arts, are pleased about discernible impulses which encouraged the project in the fields of science and arts after the first season.The Award Winners - Gustavo Espinosa (UK) and Max Scholz (DE)
On December 9th the irst Cool Silicon Art Award Winners were selected. The Minister of Art and Science of the Free State Saxony, Prof. Sabine von Schorlemer forwarded the Award, endowed with 10,000 Euros, to even two Award Winners.
With the identical number of points and big distance did win the in Columbia born and in England living fotografer Gustavo Espinosa with his work „The Four Primary Elements“ and the in Cologne linving artist Max Scholz with his installation „RAUMFAHRTCIRCUS“.
With an outstanding artistically quality both artists reflect a contemporary view on the importance of a mindful dealing with energy in the scence of the vision of the Leading-Edge Cluster Cool Silicon.
The media fotografy and installation both artists represent a large substantial and medial spectrum of the exhibition and the Art Award.

On the 9th of December 2011 the first Cool Silicon Art Award winner will be nominated. The 10 finalists are dealing intensively and in a high artistically quality with the question of growing energy consumption and the worldwide climatically consequences. The Cool Silicon Art Award is endowed with 10,000 euros.

Initiator of the Cool Silicon Art Award, which is realized in cooperation with the OSTRALE exhibition of contemporary arts, is the Cool Silicon Leading-Edge Cluster of the Free State Saxony. Cool Silicon is a coalition of over 90 companies, academies and research facilities in the Silicon Saxony - the leading micro electronic spot in Europe - which researches in responsibility for the community methods and possibilities to massively reduce the energy consumption of the information and telecommunication technology (IKT).
